Distribution of Dumaguete City’s Handog Pamasko at P300 cash money for persons with disabilities, senior citizens and indigents has resumed after a short break for the New Year celebration and the holiday, which was on Monday, Jan. 2, 2017.

City Social Welfare Officer Carola Alquero said on Wednesday the city hopes to complete the distribution on Friday, Jan. 6 , which is marked as the Feast of the Three Kings.

Earlier, complaints were raised because thousands of beneficiaries, mostly indigents, failed to receive the Pamasko as intended during the holidays because of incomplete payroll in certain barangays.

According to Alquero, a lot of beneficiaries went home for reasons of fatigue while waiting for their turn, while others were mad for waiting all the way until sundown, only to be told that their names were in the other payroll.
Meanwhile, due to the start of the processing for renewal and application of new business permits and licenses, the City social welfare office is taking charge of the distribution of the cash Pamasko, instead of the city treasurer’s office.

With this, it will also be the city social welfare office who will make the liquidation of the funds distributed to the recipients, Alquero said. (PNA/jfp/Juancho Gallarde)
