The Province of Negros Oriental has been gifted with three truth-loving and God-fearing legislators: Jocelyn Sy-Limkaichong for the 1st. District, Arnolfo Teves for the 3rd District ,and Manuel “Chiquiting” Sagarbarria for the 2nd District.

Their representation in the House of Congress in bringing the general welfare and interests of the Negrenses is well -appreciated.

For instance in the 2nd District represented by Congressman Sagarbarria, his ability to source out funds has brought about numerous infrastructure projects amounting to P455,842,629.

Specifically, Dumaguete has infrastructure projects costing P128,767,111. Sibulan, P47,492,000. San Jose, P24,800,000. Amlan, P22,530,000.Tanjay City, P78,300,000. Pamplona, P93,032,000. Bais City, P58,800,000. Mabinay, P2,171,518.

These infrastructure projects include opening and rehabilitation of roads and bridges, school buildings, multipurpose buildings, drainage systems and canals, and covered courts.

Barangay folks in the hinterlands and from the lowlands have benefited from these projects that enhance their food exchange, motilities, physical developments, education, and health needs. Basically, the projects improve their way of life and secure for them a better future.

Another laudable project of Congressman Chiquiting is his continuing scholarship program for deserving students. He has a total of 105 scholars from Dumaguete, 53 from Sibulan, 20 from San Jose, 16 from Amlan, 108 from Tanjay City, 296 form Bais City, 44 from Pamplona, 96 from Mabinay, and 133 in other Districts.

These scholars are bright students who come from less fortunate families who cannot afford to send their children to college.

The Congressman took the initiative to secure the future of these poor yet deserving students.

The challenge for the constituents of the 2nd District is to cherish these gifts by valuing the infrastructure projects and the scholarship privileges afforded to our young people in whom the future of this Province rests.
