In 1992, famous international composer and praise and worship leader Don Moen introduced his groundbreaking song God will Make A Way.
This song broke the barriers between churches and Christian denominations, as it was popularly accepted and sung in Evangelical, mainstream Protestant, and Catholic congregations throughout Dumaguete and the rest of the Philippines.
Back then, this praise song became the anthem of hope and faith for God’s power to deliver His people in the myriad problems they faced.
God will Make a Way also served as a banner for interfaith Christian unity.
In 1992 onwards, Christians of different denominations were singing this prayer of faith and hope to the One True God which they had previously worshipped in different ways and rituals.
God will Make a Way is an appropriate anthem for our time. As we face the pandemic together, it inspires and unites us to work together as one, and therefore, healing as one.
The anthem also focuses our attention to the source of all power, life, and healing. When we sing this hymn from our hearts, we acknowledge the central focus of our praise and worship.
Leadership all over the world struggles to battle with CoViD-19. Each leader addresses their challenges differently with varying degrees of success. The success of each leader has been dependent on the unity and the common goal their respective societies are able to achieve.
The society which simplifies its common goal, i.e. to preserve and protect its population from contamination minimizing the fatal effects of the disease, have been most effective.
Other societies which complicate their goals with politicized agenda, have been less successful.
The leader who leads in faith, trusts the sovereign God is in full control. He acknowledges that the initiatives, ideas, and inspirations which visit his consciousness are God’s voice lending clarity amidst the confusing perspectives and the conflicting calls to action.
Indeed, it is only the godly leader who can show us the way out of CoViD’s Egypt into God’s deliverance in His promised Land.
Last week, we benefited from the godly-insight of our leaders. The revised and refined QP system has finally achieved its goals to the satisfaction of the City’s residents.
The introduction and opening of mobile and satellite markets in the Barangays have greatly eased crowding and pressure in the public market. The establishment of a 40- bed Quarantine Center at the City High School, and the stocking up PPEs, face masks, shields, and other supplies and paraphernalia for our CoViD-19 frontliners, show great planning and foresight.
Truly very reassuring gestures of a prayerful and God-inspired City leadership. I hope they listen hard for Divine Guidance on the future of Dumaguete’s Quarantine status.
Seeking God’s counsel and listening to His voice assures us that He will always make a way.
A story in the Old Testament tells of King Hezekiah, David’s son, who became afflicted with a deadly disease. God instructed Isaiah to assure Hezekiah that He will make a way, even in a seemingly impossible circumstance.
“Return and say to Hezekiah the leader of My people, ‘Thus says the Lord , the God of your father David, “I have heard your prayer, I have seen your tears; behold, I will heal you. xxx . I will add 15 years to your life, and I will deliver you and this city from the hand of the king of Assyria; and I will defend this city for My own sake and for My servant David’s sake.”“‰(2 Kings 20:5)
