Earthquake in Mindanao. Ninja Cops. Killings. War on Drugs. Garbage mess.
Many of our news items today, especially in the national scene, are so depressing.
That’s why we are devoting this space to highlight something that we can truly be proud of.
If you are looking for one more reason to feel proud about Dumaguete, you’ll be happy to know that there’s a nationally-awarded multi-purpose cooperative in our midst – the Dumaguete Cathedral Credit Cooperative.
This cooperative, under the leadership of Chairman William Ablong, has made us proud again by winning the Most Outstanding Primary Cooperative for Large Billionaire Category award in both the Regional and National levels!

DCCCO also received the Gawad Parangal Special Citation Award as Best in Gender and Development Mainstreaming, an award given to cooperatives that recognize the importance of equity and equality in both men and women and fairness in all its transactions to members as well as the community.
With so many cooperatives all over the country, many of which have gone under or are struggling to hold their heads above the water, this is no ordinary feat.
We hope that this award will continue to inspire them and all the other cooperatives in Negros Oriental to continue to give outstanding service.
Kudos!
