A masters student in Information Systems from Dumaguete has been selected to represent the country, along with 24 other Filipino graduate students, in the annual ASEAN-India Students Exchange Program on Jan. 14-28.
Joshua Eleazar Domen from barangay Camanjac, a graduate student at the UP Open University, will gather with 250 students from the ASEAN region, including Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam, for a 10-day excursion of Bangalore, Hyderabad, Agra, and New Delhi.
Domen finished his BS Information Technology degree in 2012 from St. Paul University Dumaguete, where he now teaches part-time. He was one of the 30 finalists in the national search in Malacanang for the Ten Outstanding Students of the Philippines.
The study tour in India includes academic, cultural, economic, leadership, and historical visits that focuses on building closer entrepreneurial partnerships among the participants, highlighting academic and business exchanges in various sectors.
It’s a familiarization tool to build greater economic and cultural understanding among the nations.
The program is also expected to promote international goodwill and cultural understanding among promising young individuals, develope their potentials as future leaders in government, business, and civil society.
AISEP is organized by the Confederation of Indian Industry and the Indian Ministry of External Affairs, together with the National Youth Commission of the Philippines.
