The Government Service Insurance System Dumaguete Branch joined the celebration of its 77th anniversary nationwide recently.
According to branch manager Mercedes VPE Enriquez GSIS turned 77th on May 31 of which the Dumaguete branch conducted two activities during the day.
Atty. Enriquez said the celebration activities include Pensioner’s Forum and turned-over school supplies and used clothing to indigent pupils of Amador Dagudag Memorial Elementary School in Barangay Looc.
About 120 pensioners of old age and survivorship participated in the forum where GSIS updates discussed while two physicians Dr. Virginia Tinagan, a retired medical specialist from IPHO, and Dr. Mansueto Gumban III, rheumatologist, shared Basic Health Care information.
Enriquez said aside from questions and clarifications related to GSIS policies and programs, pensioners were enlightened and guided on proper medication for common old age sickness such as hypertension, high blood, diabetic, rheumatism, arthritis, gout with emphasis on the adage that, “prevention is always better than cure”.
On the same day, GSIS turned over various school supplies and materials, used and unused clothing and shoes for the indigent pupils of Amador Dagudag Memorial Elementary School of Barangay Looc, Dumaguete City.
The items were received by the school principal Julius Silot, with some Dep-Ed Officials, PTA President and Barangay Councilor Danny Catada, and Barangay Capt. Angelita Ragay.
The recipients also known as Pupils at Risk of Dropping Out (PARDO) were so grateful for the items they received.
It might not be much but it will certainly go a long way coming from the hearts of each and every GSIS Dumaguete office personnel, said Enriquez. (mbcn/JCT/PIA7-NegOr)
