The provincial government of Negros Oriental is pushing for the creation of mini-forests in villages across the province.
Negros Oriental Gov. Roel Degamo is eyeing to implement a tree-growing project that will allow pockets of mini-forests to thrive in the 570 total barangays here.

Capitol Information Officer Adrian Sedillo said that each barangay will be given P10,000 to carry out said project in their areas.

“Each barangay will choose an area in their village that already has existing trees and foliage and allow them to grow by itself and also to plant trees there,” said Sedillo.

The mini-forests, which Sedillo said was first introduced to the governor by Board Member Arnie Teves, is under Degamo’s environmental thrust to help minimize the effects of climate change. (RMN/PIA Negros Oriental)
