It was June 8, 2024, one of the busiest days of the year in the wedding industry. A video of a bride hurriedly walking down the aisle went viral on social media.
John Lester Barot, premier violinist in the Region, went live to express his sentiments about what just happened in a church in Amlan, Negros Oriental. He casually said that if there were a second wedding for the couple, he would volunteer his services for free.
Inspired by his gesture, some other wedding suppliers also started offering their services for free, creating a wave of support for the couple, Jove Deo Sagario & Janine Suelto.
In a matter of minutes, the local wave of generosity spread beyond Negros Oriental. Suppliers from various regions offered their services, and social media viewers and users, along with our previous clients, started contributing monetary help to make the second wedding possible.
A group chat among us was quickly formed, and a complete lineup of wedding suppliers was organized to ensure the event would be a success. Big and small names in the wedding industry committed their help, joining forces to support the couple. Their combined efforts ensured that the second wedding would be a memorable and well-coordinated event.
Despite having a wedding supplier lineup ready, the group faced the significant challenge of actually contacting the couple. It took several hours before we finally reached the couple, and the group of generous wedding suppliers explained to them the intention of organizing a second wedding for them. It also took time for us to convince the couple, as the bride said she was just expressing her dismay on Facebook about how her wedding day turned out, and never expected to do a second one, due to monetary constraints.
With persistence and genuine offers of support, our group eventually managed to persuade the couple to accept our generous proposal to coordinate a second wedding for them, at no cost to them.
And so finally on June 17, or nine days after the sad wedding day, we showcased an overwhelming display of the genuine Bayanihan Spirit in a wedding for Jove & Janine. It turned out to be grand and elegant, surpassing everyone’s expectations. Blessings upon blessings continued to pour in that the organizing team had to turn away many eager donors since there was already an oversupply. From breakfast until dinner, food flowed abundantly, leaving no volunteer hungry.
But alas, along with the success, a number of bashers emerged, condemning the public’s generosity shown towards the couple. We even got the worst bash of all from a questionable character who called us suppliers as “opportunists”. To all the bashers out there who refuse to see other peop,le happy, get a life. We, the Negros Oriental Wedding & Event Suppliers behind Wedding Take 2, take pride in what we were able to accomplish for Jove & Janine in one week, and will stand strong and solid amidst all other criticisms and madness.
