A man who was dead for 30 minutes several years ago, during which time he saw heaven, hell, and purgatory, has come to Dumaguete share his experience with the people.

Fr. Jose Maniyangat, regarded worldwide as the healing priest, is in the Philippines for the first time, with Dumaguete as his first stop.

Father Maniyangat, of Indian descent, met with Bishop Julito Cortes and members of the Dumaguete clergy, and also gave homilies during a concelebrated healing mass at the Dumaguete Cathedral.

Another healing mass was held Thursday at the Macias Sports & Cultural Center to cater to a larger crowd.

“Father Maniyangat’s visit is a rare opportunity and a proactive way of responding to these realities that are going,” said Bishop Cortes, referring to the murders in relation to the illegal drugs trade where many suspected drug pushers have been gunned down in the past months.

“It [the extrajudicial killings] is very anti-life. We need to be life-giving rather than death-dealing that’s going on in society today,” Bishop Cortes pointed out.

“Father Maniyangat’s message is that there is a God and that it is God who loves us so much. This is an opportunity for the formation of our people about the faith, Cortes added. (JFP)
