Former Rep. Herminio Teves has taken exception to a news report implicating him as a coddler of goons in the Third District.
Teves called for a press conference at his home last Friday to deny the story appearing in a local paper (not the MetroPost), which said that Rep. Josy Limkaichong wrote P/Sr. Supt. Rey Lyndon Lawas to arrest a politician in the Third District who was coddling goons.
Teves, in the interview aired on SkyNews last Friday, said he was hurt when he read the story and he personally went to see Lawas, who denied having talked with or received any letter from the First District Representative.
“Gipa-away ra mi ani ni Limkaichong,” Teves said.
He said he could not believe that Limkaichong would make such a statement because he and Limkaichong were good friends. “Why would Limkaichong say that when she would not have been a congressman without my support?” he said.
Teves said he believes that the writer could have been fed false information by someone who is interested in running for a public office in the next elections.
He suggested that a meeting be called with him, Limkaichong, Bayawan City Councilor Victoriano Alabastro and the news reporter, to settle the issue.
