I recommend biking to those who want to keep fit at their own pace.
In my exercise regimen, I make it a point to bike at least once a week, usually during the weekends. When I hop on my saddle, I get to see places differently from when I’m driving a car. On my bike, I also get to see more places (especially on single-track trails in the hillsides) that otherwise, would not be accessible with a vehicle running on gas.
More than that, I get to exercise those arm and leg muscles with a varied range of motions.
For me, the beauty of mountain biking is the freedom to be somewhere, anywhere, without having to stick to a strict schedule like the rigors of working out in a gym. On my mountain bike, I can go fast (so I can be home early enough to drive my unica hija to school), or I can take it easy, and on both occasions, still have a good workout.
If, for some reason, I’m not able to go biking to the mountains, I hop on to my stationary bike. Same exercise, just a different (home) environment.
With biking as my form of exercise, I get to eat whatever I want. After a couple of bottles of beer, I have dinner then be in bed by 7:30 or 8:00 pm. (As you can see, yes, beer helps me sleep early quick.)
Then I’m awake by dawn at 4:30. My wife Daisy [nee Tirambulo] prepares lemon water for me, which I drink before breakfast. I then play with our dogs then water our plants. That about sums up my daily regimen.
If you wonder what I eat, I have eggs for breakfast, and a lot of milk (whether soya, choco, or fresh milk) everyday. I eat red and white meat, seafood — anything that’s on the table prepared by Daisy, really.
I love fruits and tortang talong. I’m not a big fan of pasta (I only eat bread sometimes), and my wife cooks Basmati rice which is quite delicious, plain or fried.
I try to avoid chocolates, cakes, and candies.
I do drink diet soda, as well as iced tea, and of course, beer — in moderation.
And lastly, I always ask Daisy to cook her pork sinigang, it’s way much better than any other sinigang in town.
