The ICT Association of Dumaguete and Negros Oriental elected a new Board of Directors for 2012-2013. Elected were: Suzanne Lu-Bascara, Joseph Daigle (Qintara), Carlo Uy Matiao, Danah Fortunato, James June (TeleTech), Randolf Bandiola, Dave Marcial (SU College of Computer Studies), Ed Omictin (SU CCS), and Edna Colinares (StudentUniverse).

Elected officers were: President — Suzanne Lu-Bascara, Site Director of SPi Global; VP — Joseph Daigle, President of Qintara; Treasurer — Carlo Uy Matiao, Proprietor of Ace Logic; and, Secretary and appointed Executive Director — Danah Fortunato, President of StudentUniverse.

This year, ICT Dgte aims to continue its programs on Membership, Education and Training, Marketing, and its Human Resources Group.

Most notably, under the Education and Training Committee headed by Professors Dave Marcial and Ed Omictin, ICT Dgte looks forward to a partnership with the DepEd, the CHEd, and the schools in Negros Oriental on the promotion of jobs and careers in the ICT Industry.

The ICT Industry is growing at an explosive rate that requires the rapid infusion of a skilled workforce. Fortunately, there is a host of both college and technical courses that are now, or soon will be, available through the schools or through TESDA. High on ICT Dgte’s list of priorities is showing students and their parents the opportunities offered by the industry.

At the same time, the Marketing Committee headed by Immediate Past President Randolf Bandiola will continue the work of promoting Dumaguete and Negros Oriental as ideal locations for ICT businesses, especially those engaged in knowledge process outsourcing.

The Membership Committee under Edna Colinares will tackle the additional happy task of finding and encouraging ICT professionals currently working freelance or in home-based businesses, to become members and thus, have a voice in the community.

The Human Resources Group, now headed by James June, will continue sharing best practices among the BPO/KPO members. It will also be providing industry feedback to the Education and Training Committee, as well as provide its resource speakers and trainers whenever needed.

ICT Dgte is a Board Member of the National ICT Councils Confederation of the Philippines (NICP), is the Industry Representative at the Dept of Trade & Industry-led MSMED Council, and promotes several programs of the Dept of Science & Technology’s ICT Office.
