In line with the National Immunization Program of the Department of Health, the city government of Dumaguete through the City Health Office is in full swing this month with the massive immunization against measles, rubella, and oral polio in all 30 barangay in the City for children aged 0 to five years old.
City Health Officer Dr. Sarah Talla urged parents to their children to the barangay health centers to avail of the program. She said she has assigned nurses in each barangay, who will work with barangay health workers.
This year’s theme is Ligtas sa Tigdas, Magkaisa; Magpabakuna.
The measles vaccines, according to Dr. Talla, will be given to children aged nine months old to 59 months old or below five years old; while the polio vaccines will be given to children aged 0 to 59 months old or below five years old.
Talla added that for Dumaguete City alone, their target for the vaccination campaign for measles/rubella is set at 14,586 children; while for the oral polio, the target is 17,123 children.
Meanwhile, Dr. Talla lauded the help of the members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints-Dumaguete Stake for the information campaign they conducted, assisting in recording the vaccinations, and providing stuffed toys (teddy bears) for children who came early. (PR)
