How do you improve your health? I do a 40-minute workout on the treadmill everyday.
Did you have to abstain from particular foods? As City Mayor, I’m always invited to public functions where food is served afterwards. Even in our meetings here at City Hall, food is served. I just had to learn to avoid eating in-between meals. I now refrain from drinking my favorite Coke, and as much as possible, I don’t drink coffee. I have also abstained from alcohol. The last time I touched a drink was on Feb. 14 when my wife Maisa and I had red wine.
Any obvious results? My weight has dropped by 14 pounds in just a month. It has reduced my shirt size from 2XL to XL. My 2XL shirts are already loose on me!
What foods do you now eat? I eat salads most of the time. The good news is that my cholesterol and triglyceride levels are normal. But I’m afraid the salad diet has increased my uric acid level.
What’s your goal in your exercise regimen? I will continue trying to lose weight until I reach my desired weight of 220 lbs. — my lowest over the last several years.
