Dumaguete City Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo’s official trip to Los Angeles, California, USA secured varied pledges from members of the Negros Oriental Association of USA during their 25th silver founding anniversary.
Remollo, who attended the event on Dec. 3 at the Grand Ballroom Holiday Inn- Buena Park, presented the City master plan, and the proposed infrastructure plan for the entire Visayas region that generated positive reviews and enthusiasm from nostalgic Negrenses currently living and working in the US.
In his remarks, Remollo also lauded the organization’s firm commitment to help the needy in Dumaguete and Negros Oriental through the organization’s Oriental Negros Scholarship Program, and medical outreach activities by world class medical practitioners funded by donations.
He invited the Fil-Ams to visit or return to Negros, and pointed out that the City is capable of taking care of the retired Filipinos who wish to stay in Negros and Dumaguete, considering the presence of four tertiary hospitals, and the proximity of other service providers.
Dumaguete has been cited as one of the World’s Best Places to Retire, and the top destination for Chinese and Korean tourists.
NOA-USA is also inclined to finance the installation of a LED TV at Quezon Park where their activities and events, or commercial business advertisements can be aired for a fee.
Proceeds of this proposed joint venture can be split between the City government and NOA-USA to further finance its various philanthropic undertakings. (City PIO)
