Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo is looking for smart solutions for the City’s growing needs.
In a speech recently for the 2017 Smart City Mayors’ Summit held in Taipei in Taiwan, Remollo said he will work more with the civic sector and NGOs to promote tourism, arts, culture, sports, education, and trade.
The organizers of the event invited the Mayor as resource speaker, in recognition of the gains he has made in making Dumaguete a destination of choice for local and foreign tourists, according to a press statement from City Hall.
Close to 200 mayors from around the globe attended the event, and Mayor Remollo was the lone Filipino local chief executive who was invited as resource speaker.
The Smart City Mayors’ Summit tackled and shared the best and innovative practices on how to turn cities safer, cleaner, more competitive, more energy efficient, and more resilient to calamities.
The City Councilors are expected to utilize the knowledge gathered from the summit in their advocacies and proposed legislations. (JFP)
