A total of 35 persons were hired-on-the-spot while 252 others were listed as “qualified” during the latest jobs fair of Dumaguete City through its Public Employment Service Office.

PESO chief Ma. Socorro Mira disclosed this Tuesday after collating data from Saturday’s jobs fair at a shopping mall in this capital city of Negros Oriental.

In the said jobs fair, 20 local and international employers offered an aggregate total of 7,619 job vacancies, Mira said.

The number of applicants interviewed totaled 524.

Of the 20 companies taking part in the job fair, some had a “no show” of applicants/interviewees despite advertising over 400 jobs while another local company also had zero applicants.

Mira is happy that of the total registrants of 282 with 133 men and 149 women, the applicants who actually showed up during the jobs fair were more than those pre-registered at her office. (PNA/JFP)
