Kasadyaan Village was opened last December 7 at the FU Green to signal the beginning of the weeklong festivities. Present during the opening were: University President Victor Vicente “Dean” Sinco, Vice Governor Mark Macias and FU Board of Trustee member Ms. Karen Villanueva.
Before the formal opening ceremonies, Msgr. Julius Heruela, the school chaplain, celebrated the Eucharist at the Sofia Soller Sinco Hall. Msgr. Heruela also blessed the Superhero-themed booths at the Kasadyaan Village after the Buglas Sayaw Dance Troupe performed the “Palihi” ritual.
The following day, Negros Oriental’s first advocacy-oriented campus pageant will unfold at the Sofia Soller Sinco Hall with eight candidates vying for the Hara sa FU crown.
By Friday evening, the colleges and departments will once again conquer the stage for the annual Gabii sa Pasundayag. This time, they will be performing productions in line with this year’s Kasadyaan theme focused on Superheroes.
Meanwhile on the evening Saturday, December 9, the Kasadyaan Parade will take a new route passing through the Rizal Boulevard in order to give emphasis on the lights and lanterns of the contingents. This will be the first time that the parade will not pass through the Perdices St., in its 67 years of history since Foundation University’s inception.
The parade ends at the FU main campus where a fireworks display will highlight the closing ceremonies. To cap the night the Abuhuni Band, Abuhuni Choir and the Buglas Sayaw Dance Troupe will perform in a concert featuring the hits of Michael Jackson at the FU Green.
FU’s Kasadyaan Festival is part of the institution’s history of culture and the promotion of the arts in the community and within its immediate periphery.
