The World Apostolate of Fatima of the Philippines will be bringing to the Diocese of Dumaguete on April 17 to 20 its pilgrim image of the Our Lady of Fatima from Portugal.

This is part of the WAF-Philippines’ nationwide Fatima Pilgrim Visitation to all archdioceses and dioceses in celebration of the one-hundredth year anniversary of the Fatima apparition, said Saulo Paul Baybay, Diocesan president of the Youth Apostolate of Fatima of the Philippines.

Baybay on Friday said the WAF is “a public association of the Faithful of the Pontifical Right, whose mission is to contribute to the ‘New Evangelization’ of the world through the diffusion and living the authentic Fatima message.

The Fatima nationwide pilgrim visit is approved by the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines, Baybay added.

On April 17, the Fatima Pilgrim Image is expected to arrive at 8 a.m at the Sibulan port in the nearby town of Sibulan, Negros Oriental and will proceed to the Cathedral of St. Catherine of Alexandria in this capital city.

A welcome ceremony, praying of the Holy Rosary, crowning of the Blessed Virgin Mary image, and an orientation about the authentic message of Fatima and the WAF will be held thereafter. A holy mass will follow and an overnight vigil will held afterwards.

The following day, April 18, the pilgrim image will leave for nearby Siquijor island-province where it will stay there overnight, with a holy mass and other activities also scheduled for its visit.

On the 3rd day of its visit to the diocese, the Fatima pilgrim image will depart Siquijor for Bayawan City, Negros Oriental. At 3 p.m. of the same day, April 19, it will depart Bayawan City for Bais City, where it will stay overnight, said Baybay.

It will depart at 4 a.m. on April 20 from Bais City to Sibulan, where it will make a quick stop over at the St. Anthony of Padua Parish of that town before it leaves via the Sibulan port to Argao, Cebu.

Marian devotees here are asked to participate in the activities set during the visit of the Fatima pilgrim image. (PNA/JFP)
