The Department of Environment & Natural Resources will mark Earth Day with climate change advocacy campaigns in Dumaguete through a series of lectures on April 22 at the Negros Oriental High School, and on April 27 at the Negros Oriental State University.

PENRO Charlie Fabre said the lecture-series hope to encourage the students to get involved in environmental issues.

This year’s celebration banners the theme Earth Day Everyday, Everywhere, for Everyone.

“As we are now experiencing a stronger and more devastating climate, we will provide information to the youths to help government’s efforts to protect whatever resources we have,” said Fabre.

Earth Day is an annual event nationwide under Proclamation 1842 issued on April 10, 2008, declaring the month of April as the Philippine’s Earth Month to show support for environmental protection. (PIA/Sheena Mae Diongco, intern).
