Leon Kilat bootcamp: Adapt and overcome

The government’s whole-of-nation approach to combat terrorism, reduce criminality, and pacify other internal conflicts is a game changer.

The Armed Forces of the Philippines, through the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC) program, is using PEACE (People Empowerment addressing Conflict Environment) to fight terrorism by helping promote tourism. The AFP is always willing to collaborate with other groups, NGOs, and individuals to enhance the proactive response to insurgency problems.

In line with this, we at the Negros Oriental Sports Federation (NOrSports), in our capacity as an accredited organization in the Province, met with the 302nd Achiever Brigade headed by their energetic Brigade Commander BGen. Leonardo Peña, through Maj. Carl Torres and Cpt. Mark Cardinosa, to establish a partnership between civilian and the uniformed personnel that would conduct a series of activities in fitness and sports.

The Leon Kilat Bootcamp, with the theme Adapt and Overcome, has finally arrived! This is a tactical Fitness + Leadership Military Training designed for civilians.

Our primary objective is to give a fresh perspective to the people, especially the youth, that the government is working in unison with the civilian population. The whole-of-nation approach also emphasizes the involvement of skilled private individuals who can be agents for change.

While the government is bringing service right at the doorsteps of the far-flung communities in the Province, this is also happening all over the country.

With the initiative of our present 302nd Brigade Commander General Peña, and the efforts of his entire 302nd Achiever Brigade, the aim is to resolve, and hopefully totally eradicate, the problem of armed rebels in the island. This bootcamp will provide a huge impact to the communities, primarily to the youth, who will be the future leaders of our mother land.

For the initial bootcamp programs we have prepared the following activities: 1) Confidence Obstacle Course (COC) that hopes to help transform words into deeds; 2) Combat Readiness Drills (CRD), a Maximus Sets workout to challenge the participants physically and at the same time test their grit to persevere and overcome every obstacle; and 3) Resilience Training (Mental Toughness) that aims to enhance the psychological capacity of each participant. This is the kind of training that will help inspire the people especially the youth to unleash their full potential as citizens of this Republic and to live a life that matters, to become better citizens who will help shape this nation for the generations to come.

We are in this together. We are one Filipino. One team! One fight! One nation!
