Local government units in Negros Oriental are encouraged to make a lot donation to the Philippine National Police for the construction of a building to house the police station.
Chief Supt. Jose Mario Espino, regional director of the PNP Regional Office 7 based in Cebu City, explained that without a formal donation of a lot, the PNP cannot provide a city or municipality with a decent police station facility.
The PRO-7 regional director on Monday afternoon led the blessing and inauguration of the new police station in nearby Valencia town, after the LGU, headed by Mayor Edgar Teves, donated the lot to the PNP.
Espino explained that the LGU counterpart is to donate the lot while the PNP spends for the construction of the police station building.
According to him, the PNP has the funds but many cities and municipalities still do not have a proper police station in the absence of a donation.
Chief Supt. Espino and his staff made their first visit to Negros Oriental on Monday after the PRO-7 formally took over the control and responsibility of the Negros Oriental PNP following the dissolution of the Negros Island Region, which took effect Sept. 30.
