The Land Transportation Office in Dumaguete on Tuesday announced that plastic driver’s license cards are now available for those who are still in possession of the paper version, also known as the renewal receipt.

However, only those who renewed with the LTO-Dumaguete District Office for the five-year driver’s license during the period January 2017 to March 2018 shall be accommodated, said Dr. Alberta Janine Flores-Lawas, LTO-Dumaguete chief.

Lawas said her office recently received only 2,500 plastic cards that is why they have to limit the issuance of these to holders of the renewal receipt.

The LTO-Dumaguete District Office and other LTO District Offices in Negros Oriental including those at the Robinsons Mall, in Bayawan City, and in Bais City, ran out of plastic driver’s license cards.

For the LTO-Dumaguete District Office, Lawas said they can issue at most 180 clients plastic cards per day, on a first in-first out basis, she said.

Because her office has two sets of equipment for the printing of the plastic cards, they can accommodate more clients than the other LTO district offices in the Province, she said. (Judy F. Partlow/PNA)
