The Little Children of the Philippines, a mission established by Douglas and Betty Elwood to serve children of poor Dumaguete families, celebrated the cementing and naming of the Little Children St. in barangay Daro.
Dumaguete Mayor Manuel Sagarbarria and Maisa Longa-Sagarbarria were the LCP’s guests of honor.
In his speech, Mayor Sagarbarria lauded the LCP for enriching the lives of Dumaguete’s poor.
LCP Pastor Roy Mark Berame officiated the blessing of the road, while the ceremonial ribbon was cut by the Mayor and LCP Board Member Bud Naifeh.
The road construction took five years to realize as all roads in the area, except the Little Children St., were cemented in 2006.
The LCP has been serving Dumaguete’s poor children for the past 22 years. The Elwoods, with the support from benefactors in the United States started LCP to change lives through education and spiritual training. The LCP now educates 703 elementary, high school and college kids.
