Local biz studes rank 3rd in natl contest

Team Silliman won as 2nd runner-up in the HSBC National Business Analysis Competition held on March 26 at the Ateneo de Manila University.

Junior students Rhea Castillo (BS Accountancy), Ina Gabrielle de la Torre (BS Business Computer Applications), Christian Clifford Ong (BS Entrepreneurship), and Jolina Sinco (BS Economics) composed the Silliman team. They went through rounds of case problem solving, and were tested for sharpness of business strategy, and effectiveness of presentation skills.

The University of the Philippines Team emerged as champion, while Ateneo de Manila bagged the 2nd place. UP will represent the country in the HSBC Asia- Pacific Business Case Competition in June in Hong Kong.

Economics graduate Eduardo Americo Sedillo was coach for Team Silliman, together with Earl Zar Calingacion, Rosewell Cataylo, and Khristian Rei Rivera.

HSBC is a long-established international network of banks with around 4,000 offices in 70 countries. (SU OIP)
