Local scientists present studies on corals in Taiwan

Two researchers from Silliman University presented their respective papers during the Asia-Pacific Coral Reef Symposium 2014 held June 23 to 27 in Pingtung, Taiwan.

Biology faculty Asst. Prof. Kathryn Rosell Jadloc and Institute of Environmental & Marine Sciences museum curator Clarissa Reboton discussed findings of their respective studies on corals in two separate symposia.

Prof. Jadloc shed light on the question: “Do Managed Reefs Have an Effect on the Incidence and Prevalence of Coral Diseases?,” while Reboton shared her paper on “Coral Cover Dynamics at Apo Island for 20 Years.”

Both Jadloc and Reboton are coral experts who are actively involved in projects and researches of on marine biodiversity conservation, coastal resource management and coral reef assessment.
