Valentine’s Day is a day dedicated to celebrating love that has come and gone. Can there be true love in this time of nCoV?
There is an ongoing outbreak of a respiratory illness caused by a novel Coronavirus which is causing an atmosphere of fear and confusion.
Love comes in different forms and different kinds in the most unexpected places. When referring to a profoundly tender, passionate affection for another person, sexual passion or desire, it’s romantic love; family love refers to a feeling of warm personal attachment or deep affection as for a parent, child, or friend. All these kinds of love bring about the need to celebrate love on Valentine’s Day in spite of the nCoV scare.
In these times, what the world needs is love.
Yes, it is still possible to celebrate love in this time of nCoV as the nation takes precautions.
As stated in an advisory from the Department of Health, the virus can be transmitted through “exposure to droplets from the cough and sneeze of an infected person.”
Signs and symptoms of the novel coronavirus infection include fever, cough, and difficulty of breathing. Sore throat also has been reported in some patients.
Thus, the responsibility of preventing virus transmission falls on the persons who may have been exposed to the virus as a result of their visit to China or to other persons who came from China, or to infected persons who had visited the City, or who may have take the same airplane as the infected persons, or visited the same places the infected persons visited.
Senior citizens and people with underlying health conditions may be at increased risk.
Additional restrictions and cancellations of classes and events have been announced.
Still, love can be celebrated in many ways, even taking into consideration the health alerts.
To be sure, wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the toilet; before eating; and after coughing, sneezing or blowing your nose.
If soap and water are not readily available, you can use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains at least 60 percent alcohol. Always wash hands with soap and water if hands are visibly dirty.
Face masks are worn when in transit, or when meeting other people, since the transmission of the virus is not yet definitely determined.
While it is typical for people to exchange affectionate gifts or treat each other to special outings, there are many different ways to celebrate love any day. Enjoy a special day with your significant other, and plan a romantic day together, host an outing with your friends, fun run, or swim, or make time for a personal day to pamper yourself at the spa. Or enjoy a relaxing evening with your significant other by watching a movie or TV series at home that you both will enjoy.
In other words, just chill! Remember: this, too, shall pass.
