A prelude to 2016 is now in the offing as Gov. Roel Degamo announced Thursday that he has been invited to become a member of the Liberal Party.
In the interview, aired over DYGB-FM, Degamo said he is willing to accept the invitation, once it is formalized, for the sake of Negros Oriental.
Degamo, who ran under the PDP Laban banner, won overwhelmingly against candidates of the Liberal Party and the Nationalist People’s Coalition.
“The last elections was a rather painful experience but I am willing to put that aside for the benefit of the people of the Province,” Degamo said.
He said that under the administration party, the Province could benefit from more national government projects.
Degamo said he is scheduled to meet with DILG Sec. Mar Roxas when he goes to Manila to listen to the State of the Province Address of President Noynoy Aquino on Monday.
However, the local Liberal Party stalwarts said they have not heard such plan. Former Congresswoman Josy Limkaichong, the regional LP chairperson, said that the national LP Headquarters has belied reports that they were reaching out to Degamo.
