After a long wait, the Land Transportation Office (LTO) in Region 7 has finally released the deputation orders for 44 personnel of the Philippine National Police (PNP) in Negros Oriental.
This was disclosed by Sr. Supt. Dionard Carlos, OIC PNP provincial director of Negros Oriental, during the regular monthly meeting of the PNP Provincial Advisory Council held recently.
Sr. Supt. Carlos told the advisory council, chaired by Gov. Roel Degamo, that only 44 of the 100 PNP personnel from the province that had attended the LTO deputation seminar and later applied for deputation last July had completed the requirements set by the LTO.
This is because of the stringent requirements of the LTO for deputized individuals tasked to enforce traffic laws, rules and regulations.
Sr. Supt. Carlos also lamented that despite the deputation of some PNP personnel by the LTO, the agency, however, does not have enough T.O.P.’s to issue to the deputized agents.
The T.O.P. or Temporary Operator’s Permit is a citation document issues by LTO and its deputized agents for certain violations.
The PNP provincial director also noted that the validity of the deputation of his men is only up to December 15, this year.
Meanwhile, Alberta Janine Lawas of the LTO in Bayawan City said she has issued T.O.P.’s to the deputized PNP personnel in her coverage area, from Siaton to Basay.
According to her, it is the LTO district office or extension office that issues the T.O.P.’s to the deputized agents within their jurisdiction. (PNA)
