A ceremonial groundbreaking last Sunday officially started the construction of Dumaguete’s newest and state-of-the-art medical facility in the heart of the City.
MCenter Dumaguete, a 10-storey medical facility, will occupy the space where the wooden building of Matiao Marketing along Sta. Catalina St. stood for the last 70 years.
Matiao Medical Services Inc., which will manage the operation and leasing of the new medical venture, aims to provide the expertise and the equipment for the high demand for ambulatory medical-surgical services, which are usually sought by Dumaguete patients in Cebu or farther in Manila.
MCenter envisions to offer the following medical services: Diagnostic and Laboratory, Dialysis/Nephrology, General Surgery, Colorectal Ambulatory Surgery, Ophthalmologic Ambulatory Surgery, Orthopedic Ambulatory Surgery, Otorhinolaryngologic Ambulatory Surgery, Pediatric Ambulatory Surgery, Plastic and Reconstructive Ambulatory Surgery, Reproductive Health Ambulatory Surgery, Thoracic Ambulatory Surgery, Urologic Ambulatory Surgery, Oral and Maxillo-Facial Surgery.
The medical facility, with Dr. Kerwin Mark Gubantes as medical director, is expected to start operations by 2024.
“All of us deserve quality well-being, and uncompromised health care. MCenter will strive to deliver remarkable health care services for everyone, as we hope it to become the destination hub for all ambulatory medical services in the Region,” said Dante Uy Matiao, one of the prime movers of the development.
The traditional tapping ceremony, entertained by a dragon dance team, was attended by shareholders of Matiao Medical Services Inc., comprised by members of at least three generations of the Matiao family. It was also attended by medical practitioners who will play vital roles in running the facility.
The Matiao stockholders ceremonially signed the building plans, and dropped the capsule signaling the first official construction procedure.
The MCenter was designed by Architect Arvin Tia of Tia Architectural Designs, and will be constructed by Engr. George Uymatiao of Uymatiao Constructions. Preceded by their patriarch, Martin U. Matiao, the Matiao family of entreprenuers has been serving Dumaguete and Negros Oriental since the early 1950s, starting with the transportation service.
Through the years, the Matiao company has grown in capabilities and number of personnel, and has diversified into marketing/sales, finance, and real estate.
Dante Uy Matiao said the Matiao Medical Services Inc. is offering opportunities to all medical specialists to partner with MCenter. Interested doctors and medical groups are invited to contact 0917-300-3170 or email info@mcenterdumaguete.com (PR)
