Mayor Felipe Remollo has downplayed as a “simple paregla” the stabbing incident past midnight Saturday, that was blown out of proportion over social media.

Daplis lang ang injury, walay intention nga mopatay,” the Mayor said, adding that the injury could not have been done by an icepick as was reported through social media.

After a meeting with the parents of the victims, Remollo said the culprits, believed to be minors, did not have the intent to kill, but merely to inflict injury.

Remollo said it is counter-productive for the economy and the tourism industry, and for a City being recognized as one of the Best Retirement City all over the world.

Remollo stressed the situation is a “simple police matter” that was placed under control.

Analysis of the Mayor and the police disclosed that the stabbing incident past midnight on Saturday was a “one-time paregla” that merely took advantage of the situation as the police forces were concentrated on the security for President Duterte who flew in to visit the wake of the four policemen at Camp Fernandez in Agan-an, Sibulan.

Aside from the Saturday incident, the police said they did not anymore receive other reports of stabbing, contrary to what is being posted on Facebook. (Juancho Gallarde)
