The League of Municipalities in the Philippines-Negros Oriental chapter has reiterated its full backing to the plans and programs of Gov. Roel Degamo as he entered his 101st day in office last week as chief executive of the Province.
League President Mayor Reynaldo Tuanda of Jimalalud said local chief executives in all towns of the Province have realized the need to synchronize the plans and programs of the provincial government with those of the member municipalities, taking into consideration the welfare and development of the people of Negros Oriental.
The Mayors said that in an unusual turn of events in the history of the Province, it has seen four governors in a row one after another in just a period of seven months.
To promote a united and concerted effort in bringing about the development of the Province, the league of mayors said they have set aside political colors to rally behind the plans and programs of Degamo, attributing this to his fairness in dealing with them and for being transparent in his undertakings.
In a press briefing during his first 100 days in office, Degamo said he allotted millions of pesos in infrastructure projects distributed in different municipalities and districts of the Province, the first tranche of P46 million of which was approved. It consisted of a total of 75 different infrastructure projects.
He further said the second tranche consists of more projects to the tune of P40 million. (PNA) DCT/scs/jfp/JG
