The Metro Dumaguete Water has assured the public of faster and more convenient chemical analysis for safe drinking water as it obtained recently a license and certificate of accreditation from the Department of Health, and the Professional Regulatory Board of Chemistry.

Katrin Arcala, MDW’s Public Relations head, said that with the laboratory now up and running, people no longer need to go to Cebu City or other places with chemical testing facilities to have their drinking water analyzed.

“There are establishments, businesses, and organizations that require water testing for their facilities but this was not available back then,” Arcala said.

With the MDW lab now operational, this would help establishments assure their clients of clean and potable drinking water, she said.

The laboratory can cater to requests to analyze drinking water samples from restaurants, fast food chains, hotels, resorts, water refilling stations, and other private entities that offer water to the public.

Arcala said with the two certifications, the laboratory has attained the status of being the only Category C Laboratory authorized to conduct drinking water analysis in Negros Oriental.

This is on top of the facility being the sole chemical testing laboratory with the Professional Regulation Commission Certificate of Authority to Operate (CATO) in the City, she said.

In a press release, MDW Chief Operating Officer David Berba said the accreditation signifies a milestone in MDW’s commitment to delivering safe and potable water in Dumaguete City.

“By offering reliable water testing services to commercial and industrial entities, MDW hopes to further ensure that the water quality will always be compliant to Philippine National Standards for Drinking Water in accordance with DOH Standards,” Berba added.
