The Commission on Elections has reported a successful holding of the mock polls last Saturday.
Teopisto Elnas Jr., director of the Comelec’s Election and Barangay Affairs Department, came to Dumaguete to supervise the proceedings.
Elnas noted that apart from the hitches in transmitting the election results to the central backup server and the transparency servers in Manila, everything proceeded without a hitch.
Aside from the station at the City Central Elementary School, a mock election was also held in Sta. Catalina town, where the proceedings were smooth and orderly.
Elnas said that based on the mock elections, there are no problems that need correction in Dumaguete. “The glitch in transmitting the election results will be solved once we get a dedicated line on election day and the PCOS machine counted the valid votes while rejecting the ballots which were intentionally marked with unnecessary marks,” he said.
The mock election was held to test the systems to be used during the May 13 elections.
“In the past, some precincts were congested and had very long queues of voters. We hope to avoid those problems come election day,” Elnas said.
