Police arrested four suspected drug pushers in separate operations in Negros Oriental in just one day as the Philippine National Police (PNP) continue with its relentless campaign against illegal drugs.
The latest to fall at close to midnight Wednesday were Joven Amor Avillonar, 43 years old, a resident of Barangay Bagacay, Dumaguete City, and Sam Cadallo Kabristante, 30, of Dunguan Manjuyod, all in Negros Oriental, a police report said.
Around 11:15 p.m. Wednesday, operatives of the Provincial Public Safety Company, the Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit and the Dumaguete City Police Station, in coordination with the local Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency conducted a buy-bust operation in Sitio Canday-ong, Barangay Calindagan in Dumaguete City, which resulted in the arrest of the two suspects.
Operatives confiscated three pieces of elongated plastic sachets and four medium packs containing suspected shabu and 750 pesos cash from the two suspects who are detained pending the filing of criminal charges against them.
Earlier, police in Canlaon City in northern Negros Oriental arrested around 3:30 p.m. Wednesday suspect Anjo Alipar Pascua, 28, single and a resident of Purok Liberty Hills, Barangay Mabigo of the same city.
Canlaon City police conducted a buy-bust operation at the Oval Public Market in Barangay Panubigan and arrested the suspect after allegedly selling suspected shabu to an undercover cop.
Items seized from the suspect were three pieces of small heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets and cash.
On the same day, the Bais City Police Station and the City PDEU reported that around 4 o’clock in the afternoon, they implemented a Warrant of Arrest against Ramil Calumpang Banogon for violation of Sections 5 and 11 of Republic Act 9165 or the Dangerous Drugs Act as amended.
Judge Candelario Gonzalez, presiding judge of Regional Trial Court Branch 45 of Bais City had issued the warrant of arrest with no bail bond recommended.
During implementation, however, the suspect Banogon, 34, single, a resident of Sta. Cruz Viejo in nearby Tanjay City, managed to escape by driving away in his Honda Civic black with plate number JBT-175.
A hot pursuit operation conducted and with the help of the PNP personnel of the next town of Amlan where the suspect was cornered and arrested at the town proper.
Confiscated during subsequent body search was one plastic sachet of suspected shabu weighing 0.2 grams, with Dangerous Drugs Board value of P2,000.
