Three more public schools are recipients of the school building program of the Local School Board of Dumaguete to help address shortage in classrooms for learners in barangays Cadawinonan, Junob, and Mangnao.
The Local School Board had earlier approved funding the construction of school buildings and improvement of facilities for sevent public schools in the amount of P63.2 million, charged to the Special Education Fund.
The Department of Education-Dumaguete City Division identified the public schools that will receive new schoolbuildings as South City Elementary School in Mangnao, Cadawinonan Elementary School, and Junob National High School.
Three other school buildings are being constructed such as a two-storey two-classroom school building for Camanjac National High School amounting to P 10.6 million; a two-storey six-classroom school building for Cantil-e Elementary School at P 9 million; and a two-storey, eight classroom school building for North City Elementary School in barangay Piapi at P11.9 million.
Meanwhile, P1 million was allocated for the electrical upgrade for the Dumaguete City National High School in barangay Calindagan.
Mayor Felipe Remollo stressed the need to prioritize projects that will improve access and quality of education for students in the public schools so they will be competitive, and ready to perform well when they pursue their bachelor’s degrees in colleges or universities. (PR)
