Musicfest starts fiesta celebration

A two-day musical celebration started the two-week celebration of Dumaguete City’s Charter Anniversary and fiesta.

The musical show dubbed Dagsa sa Dumaguete Music Festival was spearheaded by renowned musical director and composer Maestro Ryan Cayabyab, through benefactor Julio Sy Jr.

Dagsa is organized by Radio Republic: www.radiorepublic.ph based in Manila.

The music festival started Friday with Muchikahan at in St. Paul University-Dumaguete.

Muchikahan was hosted by Cayabyab and keyboardist and composer Jay Durias.

The second day of the music festival featured live performances of DJ’s Red-I and Soulflower, Tropical Depression, Gruppo Tribale, Artstrong, Quest, Pedicab, Sandwich, and Rico Blanco at the Rizal Boulevard.

Local bands provided the front act before the guests’ performance.

According to Glynda Descuatan, fiesta convenor, the Dagsa Music festival brought in more visitors to Dumaguete City because of the best music artists they invited. She said Dumaguete will hopefully become the venue for music festivals because of the excellent peace and order situation and because of the warm hospitality of Dumaguetenos. (PNA)
