The Muslim community in Negros Oriental has reiterated their commitment to prevent the province from being infiltrated and affected by extremist terrorist groups.

Ustadz Abdul Maula Muhsin of the Muslim community here gave the assurance during the Philippine National Police (PNP) of Negros Oriental’s awarding of citations to partners at the close of the Police Community Relations (PCR) month in July.

Acting PNP provincial director Sr. Supt Henry Biñas led the awarding while Ustadz Abdul Maula Muhsin was the guest of honor and speaker.

In his message, the Imam of the muslim mosque in Bagacay, reiterated their all out support to the PNP, and will not allow terror groups to infiltrate their ranks. Instead, they will be the first to drive them out and make their presence known the police.

Ustadz Muhsin considered Dumaguete as their own having resided here for 28 years. As leader of the Muslim community, he will not allow even a single Muslim to ruin and destroy its image in this city.

The leader of Salam Islamic Center located at Purok Santol, Bagacay, Dumaguete City, paid tribute to the men in uniform especially the Dumaguete police for reaching out to them, and for giving them importance and respect as a community.

He is also teaching Arabic at the West City Elementary School and member of the Ulama Council of the Philippines.

Meanwhile, the Negros Oriental Provincial Police Office (NORPPO) has recognized two police stations, two non-commissioned police officers and three media partners for their invaluable support and accomplishments in the implementation of its mission to bring government closer to the people as a culmination activity of the celebration of Police Community Relations (PCR).

This year’s theme is “Police and Community Sharing Responsibility, Taking Action in Unity.

The Tanjay Police Station was represented by Supt. George Arellano Badon and the Bacong municipal police station led by Sr. Insp. Rommel Luga received recognition Monday for their outstanding accomplishment in the implementation of PCR programs, impact projects and bringing the police closer to the people, and as a result, immensely contributed to the attainment of the PNP mission.

Also given recognition during the flag raising ceremony at the PNP provincial headquarters are SPO2 Orlando Gonzaga of the Dumaguete City Police Station as best Senior Police Non- Commissioned Officer and best junior PNCO is PO3 Mitchelle Ejan of the Bacong Police Station.

Likewise, a member of the Barangay Police Action Team (BPAT) of Barangay Tugas in Tanjay City, Hipolito Remegio, was also awarded for his support in the anti-criminality campaign of the PNP along with MUEWS radio in Tayasan and two cable television personalities, namely, Neil Rio of Fil Products and Juancho Gallarde of SkyCable as media partner of NORPPO on the PNP anti-illegal drugs campaign, anti-gambling campaign and other plans, programs and projects of the organization.

PO3 Rosita Mindac of the Zamboanguita police station was presented a plaque of recognition for her outstanding accomplishment in the implementation of the Drug Abuse Resistance Education (DARE) program, impact projects, and providing children with knowledge, skills and an opportunity to explore attitudes to help them make an informed decisions. The program also enabled them to develop safe and healty lifestyles.

For his part, Sr. Supt. Biñas has emphasized that without community support and participation their mission will not be achieved.

Biñas wanted the Imam of the muslim community in Dumaguete to be the guest of honor, in appreciation of what the group has contributed in preserving the peace in this locality, he said. (Juancho Gallarde/PNA)
