All eyes will be on Dumaguete in September when Ronda Pilipinas, a national cycling race from Cagayan de Oro in Mindanao to Laoag City in Luzon, will pass through Dumaguete.

Ronda Pilipinas is scheduled for late September and will consist of a 20-day route of 12 stages, at about 140 kilometers per stage, for an estimated total distance of 1650 kilometers. This race will bring together the very best cyclists in the Philippines “to promote the sport of cycling, project to beauty of the Philippines, and advocate a Go Green environment campaign” said Jack Yabut, race administration director.

Dumaguete will be given the opportunity to witness and observe a national cycling race of the highest caliber, and Dumaguete is being given the privilege to create an environmental advocacy day for all bikers during the stop-over in Dumaguete. “We will prepare a meaningful environmental advocacy day with activities for all ages to help raise awareness about living an environment friendly lifestyle that includes more pedaling and less motoring”, said Dondee Seneres of the Negros Oriental Bikers Association, who is leading preparations in Dumaguete.

Representatives from Ronda Pilipinas were in Dumaguete to meet with NOBA, the Silliman University Association of Biking Enthusiasts (SUABE), and the Oriental Negros Bikers (ONe Bikers), three cycling organizations in Dumaguete associated with environmental advocacy, and who will put their energies together for this event with other cycling groups in the Province.
