The Museums and Galleries Month is celebrated annually every October, in accordance with Proclamation No. 798, signed in 1991 by President Corazon Aquino, which underscores the importance of awakening national pride in our rich Filipino culture and heritage embodying the aspirations of the nation, as expressed in all media of art as well as historical and religious artifacts, as showcased in the various museums and galleries all over the country. This year’s theme, “Honoring Traditions, Fostering Innovation,” captures our museums’ and galleries’ striving for balance between preserving the past and shaping the future, and articulates a connection with past, present, and future by incorporating the country’s local traditions while also inspiring evolution in Filipino society.
