The Department of Trade & Industry will open its second Negosyo Center at City Hall to accommodate small-scale business entrepreneurs on Oct. 20.
Based on Republic Act No. 10644, the “Go Negosyo Act” functions as a service system to cater to micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) through the its Negosyo Centers.
According to DTI development analyst Krystle Jade Bato, these centers are “one-stop shops to help link MSMEs to potential financiers,” as well as suppliers. They will help MSMEs “from start-up to when they go big.”
They evaluate MSMEs for their business registration, business advisory services, business information and advocacy, and their monitoring and evaluation. These services could be availed as long as the total assets shall not be more than three million pesos (P3,000,000).
According to Bato, Cebu, Bohol, Siquijor, and Negros Oriental will have two Negosyo Centers each by 2016. Dumaguete’s first Negosyo Center opened on July 16 at the DTI office at the 2nd floor of Uymatiao Bldg. along San Jose St.
Dumaguete’s second Negosyo Center will open Oct. 20 by 9am at the City Investment Desk at the City Hall.
Mona Yap, Sen. Bam Aquino IV’s project manager, as well as the regional director of DTI for Negros Island Region, Aster Caberte, will grace the event, according to Bato.
She said that by 2017, all local government units should have Negosyo Centers. (Christian Renz M. Torres/SU Masscom intern)
