The Philippine National Police (PNP) has designated a new provincial police director for Negros Oriental.

A designation order from the Police Regional Office 7, dated Oct. 22, 2019, named Col. Julian Ceballos Entoma as the provincial police director of Negros Oriental effective Oct. 18, 2019.

Entoma replaced Col. Rizalito Gapas who assumed the position last August 14 in an acting capacity.

The PRO-7 designation, signed by Police Col. Limuel E. Obon, Chief of Regional Staff of PRO-7, by the authority of Brig. Gen. Val De Leon, the new regional police director, did not state any reason for the replacement of Gapas.

Gapas assumed office last Aug. 14, replacing Col. Raul S. Tacaca, following the spate of killings in the province in July.

At least 22 people were shot dead in different areas in Negros Oriental, including four policemen who were killed allegedly by members of the New People’s Army.

Col. Entoma formally assumed his post last Friday. (Judy F. Partlow/PNA)
