The Negros Oriental Provincial Planning and Development Office, under the leadership of convened a Two-day Provincial
Strategic Planning Workshop at the Southview Hotel in Dumaguete City. This initiative, led by PPDO Engr. Julian Ash Mercado, aims to formulate a comprehensive development structure for Negros Oriental over the next decade.
Governor Chaco Sagarbarria emphasized the importance of collective input from participants during his speech, urging them to share innovative ideas that would contribute to a prosperous future for all Negorenses.
The governor’s focus on agri-industrial innovations reflects a commitment to bolster local farmers and fisherfolk while striving for self-sufficiency within the province.
The first day featured presentations by Efren Carreon, an economic consultant, who provided insights into workshop mechanics, and Joslyn Canon from Qualfon Philippines Inc., who discussed the challenges and contributions of the ICT-BPO sector in Negros Oriental. These discussions highlighted both opportunities and obstacles faced by various industries within the province.
Lead facilitator Rafael Tagalog guided attendees in formulating a vision for their strategic planning efforts, culminating in a presentation coined from the Committee on Style by Executive Director for Tourism Woodrow Maquiling Jr., who introduced an inspiring slogan and vision statement.
The workshop brought together heads of offices and focal persons from various departments alongside Vice Governor Jaime Reyes, Board Member Woodrow Maquiling Sr., from DepEd NegOr Dr. Neri C. Ojastro, and Mr. Edward Du, President of the Negros Oriental Chamber of Commerce. (PR)
