NegOr LGUs to mark Labor Day

Three local government units in Negros Oriental will simultaneously hold a series of activities to mark the Labor Day celebration on May 1.

Kenrick Villaluz of the Department of Labor and Employment here said various events will be held on May 1 in Dumaguete City, Canlaon City, and Zamboanguita town.

The biggest event is the one-day job fair in Dumaguete City sponsored by the Tripartite Industrial Peace Council here.

Around 2,000 job applicants province-wide are expected to participate in the fair.

Dumaguete City’s Public Employment Services Officer Socorro Mira said a total of 18 local and overseas employers have confirmed to join the job fair as of this writing.

In Canlaon City, the celebration will kick-off with a fun walk in the morning, followed by a symposium discussing labor issues.

A motorcade will be held in Zamboanguita participated in by members of rural workers associations registered under DOLE. (PIA Negros Oriental)
