The Negros Oriental Provincial Police Office has clarified published reports it sacked six OIC chiefs of police in the province for failure to implement Operation TokHang in their respective police stations.
NORPPO Deputy Provincial Director for Administration Supt. Reynold Andot said the six were relieved because their respective local chief executives wanted “a chief of police of their choice”.
Andot identified the six police officers who were relieved from their posts last week as Bayawan City OIC chief Supt. Dominiciano Distrito Jr. who was replaced by newly-downloaded police officer from the region, Supt. Melchor Agusin; Tanjay City OIC Chief of Police Supt. Resty Santos who was replaced by Supt. Bonifacio Tecson; OIC Bais City Police Chief Chief Insp. Ronilo Macasilhig, replaced by Chief Insp. Alvin Futalan; Zamboanguita OIC Police Chief Sr. Insp. Enrique Asonio who was replaced by Chief Insp. Rolando Asidoy; San Jose OIC Chief Sr. Insp. Elpidio Tagoa Jr. who was replaced by Insp. Blas Alpeche; and Pamplona Police Chief Sr. Insp. Antonio Jabar who is being replaced by Insp. John Lynbert Yango.
According to Andot, voluntary surrender of individuals under Oplan TokHang is not only the basis for complying directives from higher headquarters; it shall be coupled with accomplishments under Operation Double Barrel.
This developed as three police chiefs were given one more week to comply with Oplan Double Barrel, or be relieved of their respective posts.
The three are Chief Insp. George Badon of the Sta. Catalina Police Station, Insp. Edward Cañete of the Basay Police Station, and Insp. Jose Cañafuego of the Tayasan Police Station
These police stations may have submitted names of “drug users/pusers” who had surrendered to the police but they have zero accomplishments on the implementation of search warrants, buy-bust operations, police responses, as well as neutralizing drug personalities in their respective areas of jurisdictions.
