When the House of Representatives will vote on the restoration of the death penalty, Rep. Manuel T. Sagarbarria said he will vote against it.
Congressman Sagarbarria explained his objection to the re-imposition of capital punishment in the country as debates continue in the halls of Congress.
He said he has always been against the death penalty because the country’s judicial system is not yet perfect and it can never be perfect.
Secondly, Sagarbarria said he couldn’t in conscience affix his signature in favor of the death penalty reimposition.
He pointed out that he cannot run counter to his faith as an avowed catholic, no matter how the affirmative side would repackage its presentation in saying only the giver of life who is God can take it back. (JFP/JG)
