The provincial government of Negros Oriental is targeting to vaccinate 75,000 or more individuals against the coronavirus disease 2019 during the three-day nationwide mass vaccination from Nov. 29 to Dec. 1.

In a virtual presser held Tuesday, Assistant Provincial Health Officer Dr. Liland Estacion said there are some 300,000 doses of different brands of vaccine for the mass vaccination, as well as for the regular inoculation activities in the different local government units for both the first and second jabs.

Estacion said the Provincial Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases will meet to finalize plans for the massive vaccination campaign, including the delivery of vaccines to the LGUs, monitoring of their cold storage facilities, and identification of vaccination sites, among others.

On Wednesday, Dr. Estacion said she would meet with city and municipal health officers in relation to the upcoming mass vaccination.

The Provincial Health Office has also started the delivery of the vaccines to the various LGUs.

The target of 75,000 vaccinees is based on the quota set by the Department of Health in Region 7 (Central Visayas).

Negros Oriental aims to administer 25,000 doses per day, considering the Province has the lowest vaccination rating in the Central Visayas region, Estacion said.

She said she is hopeful that during the three-day massive Covid-19 vaccination drive, the Province will be able to inoculate more than its set target.

As of Nov. 23, the Province has inoculated more than 30 percent of its total target of 908,939 individuals, Estacion noted.

“We hope that by December, we can achieve at least 50 percent of our target,” she said in mixed English and Cebuano. (Judy F. Partlow/PNA)
