Appeals for prayers have poured in from around the world for Education Sec. Leonor Magtolis-Briones, after she announced that she has tested positive for CoViD-19.

Negrense netizens from all over the world chimed in on social media to offer their prayers for Briones’ recovery.

Briones, 79, is from Guihulngan City, Negros Oriental.

In her announcement, Briones said she was informed last Wednesday by the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine that she was positive of the SARS-CoV-2, the causative agent of CoViD-19. This was her second test.

Briones had earlier tested negative on her first test on March 13, after she and other Execom members were exposed to a patient who tested positive for CoViD-19.

Briones had a second test on April 2, after another Cabinet member announced that he tested positive for the coronavirus. The Cabinet member and Briones attended a meeting among selected Cabinet officials on March 25.

But as of Wednesday, Briones said she remained asymptomatic, and that her body temperature, which is monitored three times daily, remained normal.

She assured that she has gone on isolation, and will continue working virtually to attend meetings of the Inter Agency Task Force, and preside over the DepEd Executive Committee and Management Committee, and make all necessary decisions at the DepEd.
