Police Supt. James Goforth officially assumed Tuesday his latest assignment as the new chief of police of Dumaguete City, replacing Supt. Crisaleo Tolentino who also has a new assignment in Mandaue City.
The changing of the guards was officiated by provincial director Sr. Supt Edward Carranza and witnessed by Mayor Manuel Sagarbarria as well as other support units of the police at the city police station.
Goforth, who hails from Southern Luzon, assumed the post with marching orders from both the PNP provincial and regional offices and the city mayor as well to totally eradicate illegal gambling called swertres and illegal drugs and other crimes.
Goforth stressed that with PNP regional director Chief Supt. Marcelo Garbo, Sr. Supt. Carranza and the local chief executive behind him, there is no reason for him to fail.
He vowed to enforce the law without fear nor favor, no matter who gets hurt for as long as the public would also rally behind him in stopping swertres and the drug menace. (PNA)
