The Silliman University Board of Trustees is expected to announce its choice for the 2018 University president by March next year.

A statement from Dr. Epifania Dayao-Anfone, chair of the BOT search committee for SU president, said the announcement of their choice by the end of the 2016-2017 school year would give enough time for the chosen nominee to prepare, plan, get oriented, and acquainted with University affairs.

The search committee held a public forum on Nov. 7 at the Luce Auditorium, where the five nominees outlined their plans for the University.

“Every effort was made to ensure wide participation by various stakeholders through live streaming and radio coverage,” Dr. Anfone said.

Questions were also fielded through email and social media during the forum, which was followed by a one-on-one panel interview with the nominees by the entire Board of Trustees covering a wide-ranging topics and issues.

The Board of Trustees will choose from among four nominees: Dr. Macarthur Corsino, Dr. Betty Cernol-McCann, Dr. Betsy Joy Bustamante-Tan, and Dr. Beulah Rose Rubio-Torres.

Among the qualifications that the candidates met include: being a Filipino citizen, a holder of a doctoral degree, at least five years of administrative and managerial experience, experience in networking, resource generation, and mobilization, a record of proven moral integrity, and being a Christian.
